8 Restaurants to eat at in Savannah, GA with peanut and tree nut allergies.

January 30, 2023

As a family with two young ones who have food allergies, planning our very first family vacation took a lot of work! But we knew that we didn’t want to end up having to drive back to our Air B&B every time we were hungry, that would be a huge time waster. So instead we came up with a plan that made us feel comfortable eating out.

The very first thing I did was google the best family friendly restaurants in Savannah Georgia! After making my list, I called all the restaurants and asked to speak with the manager about how they handle food allergies in their kitchen.

After calling 30 restaurants, here are the top 8 that made us feel the most comfortable.

Alexander’s Bistro- This is a nut free restaurant. The food was so delicious and the staff was wonderful! They had fun drinks and our boys loved the chocolate croissants.

Huey’s on the River- Again, Amazing food and wonderful service. Our family highly recommends the beignets, We even ordered some for breakfast takeout one morning! (Their kitchen does have pecans, but we were made to feel very comfortable about the food handling process)

Screaming Mimi’s- Pizza! Enough said. It was great pizza and the staff was knowledgeable and friendly. (They have nuts on cannoli’s in a dessert case, but again, we were made to feel comfortable about the food handling process.)

The Grove- Good food, nice staff and they take your food allergies seriously. (Needed a reservation)

Flacos Tacos-Amazing Mexican restaurant! It’s located in Pooler, but it’s worth the small drive. (Aka- Flacos House)

The Deck- Cute restaurant on Tybee Island with good food and a fun vibe.

Crystal Beer Kitchen- The food was safe and it was good. However, the staff was extremely rude. Extremely RUDE. Then the manager practically laughed in our faces when we tried to tell them about our experience. I don’t recommend them, but you can make up your own mind.

The Crab Shack- Also on Tybee Island. We never actually made it here, but it was on our list.

And as a bonus, we found ice cream!

Savannah Square Pops- Delicious! Fun colorful little place! It’s the perfect treat for a hot Savannah day!

We had a wonderful vacation without any food issues. All the hard work paid off and it was totally worth it! It just took so much stress off of us to know that we had pre planned locations we felt good about.

Now that we know what we’re doing, 2023 vacation should be a breeze to plan!

I hope this helps anyone with nut allergies looking for places to eat in Savannah Georgia. Let me know in the comments if you know of any other locations to add that we should try!

*As always, use your best judgement and talk to the staff about your concerns.
